Spree For All
Hiking Form |
Trail Surfaces Spree For All, the award-winning hiking series that promotes fitness and fun for everyone, celebrates five years on the trails this spring, May 1 through June 30. Available are 12 universally accessible trails in the Metro Parks, three in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and two at Summa Health System locations. Trails have been tested by clients of Akron’s United Disability Services and approved for wheelchairs, walkers, canes, strollers and users on foot. To receive hiking rewards, individuals must complete five hikes – on five different trails, the same trail or any combination of trails – and submit a completed hiking form. First-year hikers earn a neck lanyard and commemorative pin; veteran hikers earn the commemorative pin. Hikes are FREE for all participants; non-Summit County residents pay to receive their rewards ($10 for first-year hikers, $5 for veteran hikers). For information, call 330-865-8065 or 1-800-23-SUMMA. Grandview's Hiking group meets on Sundays at 2pm at the hiking site. The group has scheduled enough hikes to complete the spree, plus an extra.
